First, lets talk about just what a backwoodsman is. It's not necessary just a man, it's a person who can live off the land and thrive off the wilderness. Mother Nature has given us all the necessities that we need to survive, all the other gadgets we have now days are just things that make this modern life easier (not necessities though). The mission of The Backwoodsman's Institute is to inform other outdoorsmen and women with knowledge and tools of the trade that we have encountered over our years in what we believe is "a backwoodsman's way of life". Now, through this organization you will see and understand the lifestyle of the very first settlers and the longhunters who had to live off the wilderness and nothing else. But, you will also get a vast understanding of how to incorporate the technology we have today into this way of life.
        The Backwoodsman's Institute was founded in 2009 by Scott and Logan Fromme, a father and son duo. Our intent is educate people in not just hunting, or fishing, but through an entire lifestyle. The Backwoodsman's Institute is an instructional video archive and will have literature from the founders and from other fellow "backwoodsmen". It will also be a place for our followers to be able to share with each other their experiences and tips. Like we said earlier this is are not just hunting videos or fishing videos, we cover an entire way of life, "a backwoodsman's way of life".
         Now here's a little bit about the founders. Scott has been a Hunter Education Instructor for the State of Indiana and a Dubios County Shooting Sports Instructor for the past 22 years. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve for 6 years as an infantryman and is currently serving in the Indiana Army National Guard under the same title. Scott has a vast knowledge on the way of life during the early settler days (circa 1700's). He has taken a key interest in traditional hunting and living. Logan was a student in the Dubois County Shooting Sports for 10 years throughout his schooling days. He currently is serving in the Marine Corps as an infantryman. Logan has learned from his father since he was old enough to remember. He has a vast knowledge of traditional hunting, but his biggest asset is how to apply modern technology into the ways of a backwoodsman. Together their hunting experience is roughly 40 years many of those years were spent hunting together.
